Volunteer opportunities

Crisis Advocate spring internship

WCCI is seeking 2 interns for the period from January to May. Both must speak English and one must also be fluent in Arabic. They should have a background in social work, human services, public health or other relevant field. Interns will be trained and certified as women's crisis advocates. Interns will then provide domestic and sexual violence crisis advocacy for women in Bahrain who experience abuse via the telephone hotline or face to face. They will work in coordination with the program managers and their internship mentor. Interns will be immersed into Bahraini and Arab culture and will have the opportunity to explore the country in depth and become well acquainted with the people and culture.

Social media COORDINATOR fall internship

WCCI is looking for a passionate dynamic intern who's able to mange WCCI accounts on multiple social media platforms and be familiar  with Bahraini media channels. The ideal candidate must be fluent English and Arabic, and be at the office 15 hours a week. The intern is should  start ASAP.

Become a Crisis Advocate

Have you ever felt like you wanted to give back to your community, or help people in need? Becoming a crisis advocate will allow you to learn new skills, make new friends, and support women during what may be the most difficult time of their lives. Crisis advocates must take and complete the free 40 hour certification training and then they are able to sign up for their on-call shifts answering our helpline and serving as an active women's advocate. Through this, advocates provide immediate emotional, logistic, and informational support to women facing domestic violence or sexual violence. There is no prior experience necessary. You must come only with an open mind, an open heart, and a commitment to serve.

Our next crisis advocate training will take place December 7th, 8th, 14th and 15th, 2018.
